Phantom
Spires:
This area is made
up of many free standing formations called spires. The spires
range in height up to 250 feet tall. After reaching the tops
of thetaller spires you experience a breath taking view of
the American River Canyon. This area is known for its door
knob like hand holds.
Sugarloaf:
This area tends
to be for the more experienced climber. Unlike the Phantom
Spires and Lover's Leap, there are few features on the rock.
The rockat Sugarloaf has frequently been compared to Yosemite
for its smooth granite and straight crack climbing. In 1978
Toni Yaniro put up Grand Illusion, the first 5.13, thenthe
